Hotel Life
Robert reported his nite with the frat boys at his other hotel last nite went about as well as could be expected…His stated goal of having them all corralled up by 0200 wasn’t feasible, but 0300 was, and it sounded a lot better than our frat boy party here two weeks ago…Robert added they wanted him to return tonite, but he and his family are moving Sunday, so he said no.
The big news – and it’s HUGE – is that Robert is neighbors with The Bread Lady…I am not making that up!!!…Evidently, delivering bread pays bank because The Bread Lady and her husband have homes both here and in the big city, and The Bread Lady is lending Roberto a truck for their move.
At The Gym…Barely
Pablo was at the gym, and the big news is he hasn’t broken up with the girlfriend he doesn’t really like yet…It appears imminent, tho…He reported she texted him today wanting him to go to church with her, but he didn’t want that and came to the gym instead…An invite to evening services was similarly declined, and they have both decided it was time for a talk, an Official Talk that could be referred to at need throughout the relationship, however much longer it happens to last.
We left after chatting with Pablo without doing anything…Some project work had been asserting itself, and it was to the point where that was more important than lifting, so for the first time in a while ol’ Sparrow did nothing good for himself.
Sparrow’s Sleep Log: 1000 Sunday until 1700 Sunday…7.0 hours for the day, a solid, if unspectacular start, to the sleep week.
Monday, October 26
The Front Desk Supervisor (FDS) was at the hotel when reported for duty tonite…Regular readers of this crap know Robert is usually here, but he’s moving and begged off to avoid being up for 75 strait hours.
The FDS had a list of company courses to take, and it wasn’t short, either…We looked at it and took the Lord’s name in vain in a couple of ways, athe FDS then adding we may’ve already done some, and maybe most, of them, and then showed me how to find out…We went into the Company University app in The System, and he showed me how to access the list and print it out…The FDS then offered to check the two lists and cross out the ones I’ve done, or we could do it…Well, you know the answer to that…We advised we would reserve the privilege for him, adding it seemed to be a pretty good supervisorial function.
Sparrow’s Sleep Log: 0930 Monday until 1730 Monday…8.0 hours for the day and a satisfying 15.0 hours for the week…God bless all of you.
Tuesday, October 27
It turns out the reason training is becoming due should’ve been obvious immediately: we have an inspection coming up…Actually, it’s called an audit, and not only do auditors visit us, but they call us, too, to make sure we’re squared away on the phone…Melissa said she heard they’ll be stopping by to visit us on graveyard, but we waved it off because we’ve heard that before and they never show up, because – all together now – you don’t mess with a nite auditor who shows up on time every nite and does his work reasonably well.
There was a problem with The System this morning…Head Housekeeper Gloria actually alerted us to it and we promptly ignored it because iit usually fixes itself soon enuff, and when it doesn’t a restart usually works…But not tonite, so we ended up on the phone with System Tech Support (STS)…Twice.
The first session was short because the problem could not be solved with mere access to my computer; access to the server was needed nd yours truly is merely a peon nite auditor and we don’t have credentials for it…Usually, procedure is to call the Front Desk Supervisor (FDS), but he’s probably sleeping, but it’s AGM Tammy is likely up, so we called her and got her password…
Sparrow’s Sleep Log: 1030 Tuesday until 1730 Tuesday…7.0 hours for the day and 22.0 hours for the week.

Sparrow’s Night Off
Ol’ Sparrow did not venture into uncharted waters on his nite off…We went to the gym, had a snort, and did some reading before dozing off…It was very pleasant, especially considering we’re working at the hotel next week, so our next nite off won’t be for two weeks.
It was not like last week, tho, where we avoided all possible screen time like the plague…We didn’t do any bonus project work tonite, but we did put some quotes into our personal quotebook from the last two books we read, something we’ve been putting off for a while…We were in the chair reading around 0200, tho Bandit didn’t immediately join us, preferring to stay under the chair.
The big news is we only got one snort in…We used the last of the scotch – there was enuff for a nice, long pour – but between Bandit declining to move and ol’ Sparrow starting in on his usual nodding off, that was the only snort we got in.
Sparrow’s Sleep Log: 0500 Wednesday until 1630 Wednesday…11.5 hours for the day and 33.5 hours for the week…We cheated and took a sleep aid, which mixed well with our snort…Sue us.

As GHSD Turns
The helicopter landing zone (LZ) was set up when we reported for duty at the General Hospital Security Department (GHSD)…They landed soon after, even before we clocked in, and Alisha and Foster escorted them to the birth ward.
You never like to see this, of course, but the ol’ heart strings got a break because it wasn’t a baby being flown out, but a mother…We realize that isn’t a whole lot better, but it beats looking at a baby resolutely sitting there, determined to make it.
And mommy wasn’t even expecting…She and her husband had come in for a checkup, and mom’s blood pressure was high (Alisha had the exact clinical term, which she presumed we knew…Needless to say we didn’t), and it demanded more attention than we could give it here, so she was flown out…The dad had that vacant what-the-hell-is-going-on-here stare you see from time to time, plainly surprised, sad, and worried to be leaving here alone.
The big news is our new coffee mug debuted tonite…I am not making that up…We got it in the camping section at the retailer, and it has a cork bottom, which we don’t understand at all…It will beat using those paper cups which, even insulated, still burn your hand…Tho it should be noted we’ve taken to putting a bit of ice in our coffee here, more so we can down it quickly than anything else.
In other big news, ol’ Sparrow’s decline into senility continues, as we didn’t even notice the ER break room had been rearranged!!!…I am not making that up, either.
The first time we didn’t notice it was when went to put up provisions for the next couple of nites and get a cup of joe (in our new mug)…Then we also didn’t immediately notice it when we went to eat…Only when we went to where the table used to be did we notice that a couch was in its place…To make this even more insulting, the table had been moved to where some chairs used to be, right in front of you when you open the door!!!
Sparrow’s Sleep Log: 1030 Thursday until 1700 Thursday…7.5 hours for the day and 41.0 hours for the week.

Big Fun At GHSD
Jennette tried to play a trick on me tonite when we reported for duty at the General Hospital Security Department (GHSD)…It wasn’t all that great a trick, and we suspected trickery almost from the start, but we played along while Travis was heroically stifling a laff.
The joke was that a bear was trapped in the entry doors of the outpatient building (on the far side of the facility) and that they were waiting for animal control to show up…Well, this didn’t ring entirely true…First off, Security 101 dictates you’d have an officer – if not actually in the doorway with the bear – at least in the area, to keep others away…And even if a control room presence was mandated, they would’ve had video coverage up on the monitor…As it was, dedicated video coverage of the area showed nothing more dangerous than air in the doorway, and we hissed at Jeannette, which was not completely unfunny.
Dylan and I stole money tonite, and we were so productive, we had the project work we wanted done by 0230…The Project we’re working on is rather thoughtful in nature, and you can’t write crap like that all nite long, so we decided to do an outdoor tour and then consider matters…We came back and did a bit more work, but not too much…We were grateful when Unlock Tour rolled around at 0430, and after that the rest of the shift was spent at leisure.
Gym Time
The big news is we changed things up a bit at the gym tonite…On weight days, we’ve been starting with 15 minutes of deep breathing, then lifting, then doing the final 15-minute deep breathing session…Today, tho, we started with weights because 15 minutes of deep breathing is very relaxing, so relaxing we may well’ve blown o0ff weights, and we didn’t want to do that.
Sparrow’s Sleep Log: 0930 Friday until 1730 Friday…8.0 hours for the day and 49.0 hours for the week, a phenomenal total heading into Saturday’s finale.
Saturday, October 31
Back To The Hotel
The big news is Creamer Challenge 262K is underway…I am not making that up…Longtime readers of this crap may – but probably don’t – recall that a couple-three – maybe 3-4 – years ago, we had another creamer challenge, when all creamers were in those little containers…We had opened fresh boxes of all three types, and the challenge was to confirm which one got used the most.
Today, tho, we opened fresh pump bottles of hazelnut, French vanilla, and sweet cream flavors and BOOM! another creamer challenge is on…The only fly in the ointment is half & half remains in those single-serving containers, so it won’t be a complete challenge, but at least we’ll get a long-awaited handle on which of the others gets used more.
Sparrow for Congress
We lost interest in the campaign a while back…We have content up everyday, but it didn’t catch on like we’d hoped…We raised zero dollars – a low total, even for us – and views of our Faceplant crap have fallen off…Plus, the side hustles that were going to let us fund a proper campaign didn’t make us squat…Or made us squat…We’re still not sure which to use.
But you never know…One, our district is over half independent; people did like our message of “We deserve better,” and ol’ Sparrow is the only protest candidate on the ballot…This means the truly fed up only have one option…So perhaps we will top our PB of 5%…Plus, the GOP is a non-factor in the district, so maybe we’ll top Kelley, a nice 27-year-old gal who bills herself as the Goth Candidate.
Sparrow’s Sleep Log: 0930 Saturday until 1630 Saturday…7.0 hours for the day and 56 hours for the week, a fabulous total…God bless all of you.
